Alabama state Senate leadership decided to push state Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, out of the Rules Committee chairman position. Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, R-Anniston, said Beason’s role in the upcoming bingo corruption trial in January, would be too distracting in the next legislative session, which begins in February. “For this trial in January, we think the demands on Scott and the comments and the issues surrounding Scott right now could be detrimental to moving the agenda of the people in the state,” Marsh said.
